Welcome my dear guest(s)
May you all be blessed with a great day.
In the early 1900's there was a very popular crochet bag called an Opera Bag.
These 1912 Opera Bags are in photos of the some of the ladies on board the Titannic.
They are a part of history. You can find them in museums. This bag is a richly crochet of lacy
pattern that makes this bag worth having just for the beauty.
I crochet these bags from a 1912 pattern. I had to edit the pattern for ease of
understanding to modern crocheter and I sell that pattern for $7.00
I am one person. I do not have a warehouse of bags. I have about 6 bags now. I am
always working on the next bag which take me 2 months to complete. As I do have a
few other things I have to do like laundry so I do spread that 40 hours over 2 months.
Yes 40 hours just for the crochet part of the bag, then, another couple of hours
for the ribbon handle, fancy lining, attaching the balls and installing a rhinestone
or a fancy bead in the middle of the rose.
The original bag was too small for modern times so I used a bigger crochet
hook 1.90mm which makes a more open lace and a bigger bag.
When you see and touch these bags you will know why they are worth more than my
asking price. I charge 10.00 an hour for my crochet work and you can see that
40 hours does add up to 400.00. $225.00 is my asking price.
All the bags made with DNC thread are soft with a great handle (how it feels in your hand).
When you view and touch this bag you can understand why this bag was so popular.
I make these bags in various colors. Red, Green, Purple, White, Black and so on.
I do not accept custom orders or colors...but you might talk me into it. Email me.
The original bags were crochet with Glossili thread but that is no longer being made.
So DNC thread comes the closest and so my bags are made with various colors of DNC
thread, size 5. My crochet hook is a 1.90mm steel.
For the more daring of you fine guest(s), I do have a few bags crochet with metal thread.
Black Multi-colored and Gold. It is not fun to crochet with metal thread so I am not
doing too many of those.
I "ship free" but USA Only. I sell these as "AS IS" because I ran into a little problem with
several buyers buying them, used them for some event, then wanted to return them for a refund.
Cheers,
Alice
